Green Officer Drop in Session — Friday 15th May
On Friday 15th May, 10.30am - 12.30pm I’ll (Shreya Patel, Cambridge Zero / CCS) be in Clare Cafe, Old Court, Trinity Lane, for a drop in session.
Please come by if you’d like to chat through anything, or just for a quick catch up! More of these will be held across term!
Email (Shreya, sp2068) so I know to expect you (online or in person)
You are welcome to come early / stay later and crack on with work (change of scenery is always good! Clare gardens are open and are lovely too) to again avoid going out of your way during a busy term
This is for Green Officers, as well as any students wanting to chat through what they’re working on within college / dept / wider uni. The offer is open to students wanting general advice on getting involved with environmental work around the uni.

Scenes from the Climate Era, from playwright David Finnigan — 12-16 May
Welcome to the climate crisis.
Fast paced and funny, unsettling and challenging, Scenes from the Climate Era is a darkly human response to the climate crisis told through a kaleidoscope of short scenes and contrasting characters. By weaving together moments of hope and humour, uncertainty and grief, the play resists simple narratives or solutions. Instead, it asks how to live with a crisis that is simultaneously omnipresent and somehow so easy to ignore.
Join us for a journey around the world and back again through the past, present, and future of the climate crisis: both as we know it and as we will.
Scenes from the Climate Era, from playwright David Finnigan, is at the ADC Theatre 12-16 May for its sixth international run.

Enjoy the sun for a short revision break (it’s the post brunch slump anyways!) with some likeminded students. The gardens are a beautiful resource on our doorstep and few of us actually visit much!
It’s a chance to actually get to know some of the other Green Officers / Green Soc reps, as well as ask plenty of questions or gather advice. I’ll be around after for a chat too :)

Seminar on Science & the Public in Action — Wed 20th May
On Wednesday 20 May, the Cambridge Centre for Climate Science (CCfCS) and the Institute of Computing for Climate Science (ICCS) will be hosting a seminar on Science & the Public in Action presented by Erik van Sebille, Professor in Oceanography and Public Engagement at Utrecht University
As scientists, we are not only expected to do excellent research; we are also expected to have an impact on society. One way to have such an impact is through public engagement. However, the effectiveness of these activities is often not measured and the methods underpinning the activities are rarely evidence-based. In this seminar, Prof van Sebille will give an overview of what is known (and unknown) about the effectiveness of public engagement by academics. He will particularly focus on advocacy and activism, and discuss to what extent, when and how (climate) scientists can be activistic in the public domain.

Sustainable Development Forum — Thu 21st May
We warmly invite members of the Cambridge Climate Society to attend the Sustainable Development Forum – Cambridge Edition, an upcoming event bringing together students, academics, practitioners, and organisations engaged in sustainability and climate-related challenges.
The Forum is designed to foster thoughtful discussion, interdisciplinary exchange, and practical insight into issues such as climate action, sustainable policy, and responsible leadership. Given the Cambridge Climate Society’s strong interest in climate engagement and informed debate, we believe the Forum would be of significant interest to your members.
We are happy to offer all your members a student priced ticket at £40, even those who are now alumni.

Cambridge Nature Festival — Sat 23rd May onwards
The Cambridge Nature Festival 2026 runs from Saturday, 23rd May to Tuesday, 30th June, marking its fifth year as a cornerstone of the city’s environmental calendar.

Cambridge Climate Therapists — Saturday 13th June
Climate Cafes offer a supportive space for people to express what they feel and think about climate issues, reflect together and listen to one another. The cafes are led by facilitators, so you can be sure there will be space for you to speak if you wish to. All welcome.

The results for the 2026 assessment of Cambridge colleges by the Climate League of Oxford and Cambridge (CLOC) have been released. CLOC is an independent student-led assessment of Oxbridge colleges’ environmental policies.
