📅 Upcoming Events
Scaling Climate Tech Panel Discussion - This Thursday 20th November 5:30pm @ Old Hall, Queens’ College ⚡
Hosted by the Cambridge University Energy Technology Society and the Queens’ Entrepreneurship Society. Enter via Queens’ College Porters’ Lodge and follow signs to Old Hall (across the river).
What are the key bottlenecks when scaling climate tech startups? What are the different financing mechanisms? How does the Cambridge ecosystem compare to the rest of the UK and abroad? Should we scale in the UK or should we offshore production? What is the role of the UK government in supporting spinouts and ensuring that the UK captures value?
College Green Society Workshop - Monday 24th November 5:30pm @ Millicent Garrett Fawcett Room, Newnham College
Join us for our second workshop this term. Whether you are already part of or run your own college environmental group, want to start one from scratch, or simply want to learn more about how to advocate for change within your college, this workshop is for you!
We discuss strategies in terms of collaborating on socials and events, as well as provide you with the toolkit needed to start and maintain a successful college environmental society. These student groups are vital for providing a much needed social space for all things climate-related within Colleges, as well as providing a clear avenue for promoting college-based policy changes.
The Cambridge University structure means each College and Faculty is independently governed - there is a huge disparity across colleges regarding net zero policies, catering provisions and more. We are here to change this from the bottom up.
Any questions, shoot Shreya an email (sp2068). You can join our WhatsApp for more updates.

Save the date! Good COP, bad COP: Reflections on COP30 - Monday 1st December 1pm @ Dr Constance Tipper Lecture Theatre, Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge
Good COP, Bad COP is back! We’re bringing together an expert panel to discuss the highs and the lows of the world’s biggest climate conference.
After the 30th “Conference of the Parties” (COP), we’ll ask: what really happened? What was agreed, and what was left unspoken? And after all these years, what do we do next?
Prof Piers Forster, former interim chair of the UK’s Climate Change Committee, will be joined by:
Dr Natalie Jones, International Institute for Sustainable Development
Dr Joanna Depledge, Centre for Environment, Energy and Natural Resource Governance
Prof Emily Shuckburgh, Chief Scientific Adviser of DESNZ
The event will be chaired by the Centre for Climate Repair’s Prof Jerome Neufeld.
Join us at the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge to have your questions answered. Refreshments will be provided afterwards.
Cambridge Masterclass in Energy Supply and Demand - 8-9th December 9:30am @ Institute of Energy and Environmental Flows
The Masterclass is a two-day meeting (8-9 Dec) of lectures and discussion, with talks from the leading experts in energy supply and demand.
The Cambridge Energy Masterclass is a two-day intensive meeting of lectures and discussions, with talks from leading experts in various aspects of energy demand and supply. It focuses on the energy transition and the technologies needed to optimise new energy systems.
We will discuss the current energy system, and the different contributions provided by a number of low-carbon energy sources, including wind, solar, and nuclear. We will examine new strategies for the storage of heat and the capture and storage of carbon dioxide. We will learn about the energy use in the construction and transport sectors. We will look at the electricity grid, and investigate the need for long-term storage of energy. We will see how public perception affects the energy policy in our society.

🌍 COP30 Updates
COP30 is the United Nations Climate Change Conference taking place in Belém, Brazil from 10th to 21st November 2025.
UN Climate Change Conferences (or COPs) take place every year, and are the world’s only multilateral decision-making forum on climate change that brings together almost every country on Earth. COP30 will bring together world leaders and negotiators from the member states (or Parties) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to further global progress, with business leaders, young people, climate scientists, Indigenous Peoples, and civil society sharing insights and best practices to strengthen global, collective and inclusive climate action.
You can stay up to date with COP with the following links.
CCS will be uploading insights and highlights on our Instagram so follow us there too! Our own president will be on the ground and is writing updates too 💬
